FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 5, 2018
We are scrambling a plan to move HHUS (the birthplace of Hamshack Hotline) into the cloud. Events
are happening right now that require this move. John (K1WIZ) is preparing to move his family to the
Atlanta GA region as a result of new opportunities requiring a total relocation. Because of this, John’s
family already has preparations underway to place their home on the market and complete the move
over the next month. This ultimately means that the physical VM server hosting HHUS will be shut
down and shipped to GA when the move is completed. There are a lot of moving parts to this change.
We have not been able to determine the availability of symetrical gigabit fiber based internet on the
destination end due to the fact that a final residence has not yet been purchased and secured in the new
location. This is not expected to happen until at least a month or two.
The plan now is to prepare HHUS to be migrated to the cloud so we can continue to service US
customers and keep established lines available with minimal downtime. Please note that there will be
periods of downtime as engineering efforts will be needed for the migration that require the server to be
taken offline for copy and mirgration testing. Once a migration path is realized, efforts will begin
immediately and there will be a service interruption during this time.
How does this affect Hamshack Hotline and US customers?
• All configurations and adding of new accounts will be immediately frozen – ie. HHOPS will
not add any new provisioned lines on HHUS until the migration has been completed. No new
changes to the server will be done in any way.
• Ticketed requests for new lines or changes will be held on the helpdesk until the cloud
migration is complete.
• HHOPS Helpdesk will also be unavailable as it too will be migrated to the cloud.
• TFTP profile access will be temporarily unavailable as part of this migration as profiles will be
moved as well. You will not need to adjust your phone until an announcement is made
when the migration is complete!
• ALL service on HHX, HHEU, & HHUL will be unaffected and callers will be able to continue
to direct dial between these peers. Bridges however will be temporarily unavailable. Only
HHUS lines will be temporarily down.
• During downtime, HHUS lines will go “yellow” or Orange. This is expected. They will return
to green state when services are migrated and restored.
We will do everything in our power to keep downtime to a minimum but we ask for your patience and
understanding as John prepares to make this major move. His plate will be full, but he will do his best
to position HHUS for continued success in the cloud.
